Unlike other cat strollers and dog strollers which are simply converted “baby strollers”, the new HoundAbout Pet Strollers from Solvit are designed from the ground up with pets in mind. Additional “parent” features include a convenient cup holder which can be mounted in several locations and a comfortable, cushioned handlebar.
The roomy cabin comes equipped with an adjustable leash and an overstuffed cushion which can be removed for washing. A zippered “sun roof” makes it easy to see and reach inside the cabin while strolling. Breathable mesh windows on all sides + weatherproof vinyl front door keep pets comfortable under a variety of conditions.
The large, swiveling front wheel makes the stroller a breeze to maneuver and for added versatility, it can be locked in position for jogging. Reflectors are included on all four sides of the stroller for added safety in low light conditions and a handy parking brake prevents unwanted rolling.
While at the park, pets can be leashed to the exterior leash point on the back of the stroller. Be sure and set the parking brake so they don’t wander off! When not in use, the HoundAbout folds down for easy storage.
The dimensions of the “cabin” on the Medium Stroller (available in Garnet Red only and shown above) are 26″ x 17″ x 20″, and the overall dimensions (including wheels and handlebar) are 50″ x 24″ x 41″. The rear wheels are 16″ and the front wheel is 12″ and the handlebar is 38″ above the ground. The medium stroller weighs 31 pounds.

Here are a few tips that might make a cat’s first harness encounter a little better:
- While you are inside, put the harness on your cat and adjust it. Be sure you are able to slide one finger between the harness and your cat.
- Right away, place a bowl of your cat’s favorite food or treat in front of him.
- After he has finished his dish, give him a few minutes and then remove the harness.
- Do the same thing the next day, except leave the harness on a little longer and add the lead.
- Continue doing step 4 until your cat is comfortable wearing the harness.
- Then take him outside to a quiet location.
- Don’t expect your cat to walk by your side. After all, he’s a cat! Let him take you for a walk.
- After you bring your cat back inside, remove the harness.
Pretty soon your cat will look forward to his outings.

I bought a cat bed for my little snoofy cat Ella and ever since then our relationship has been so much better. Every night she would curl in bed with me and by the time morning came around, it was impossible to get the cat hair out of the sheets. Although I love her to death, and she is insanely cute, there are limits as to what I am willing to put up with. My friend suggested shaving her, but there had to be a better way than that.
