Like people, your pets – be it cat or dog – can sense when you are tense and likewise, they will adopt your attitude and your unease. As any pet owner knows, having a furry friend further your stress will only worsen your day. Here are some quick tips to relaxing your pet:
First of all, you yourself should relax. These techniques will vary based on what your situation is. Sometimes it can be screaming into a pillow or sometimes it’s a glass of red wine; it’s really up to you.
Animals are aware of the therapeutic value of touch, so once you’ve calmed down, sit down with your dog or cat and just touch them the way that they enjoy. As their primary caretaker, these are the little things that you should be aware of.
Speak to your pet in a soothing voice.
Different pets react differently to stress; some dogs may just want to lie in their dog beds, others may want to go out for a brisk walk outside, so long as they are given attention.
